Charnell
Sandra Ireland-Moger

I have been involved with pedigree dogs since the age of fourteen when I had my first purebred puppy, a Golden Retriever bitch named Honey. On leaving school I went to work for a well known breeder of Salukis and travelled with them to shows all over the UK.
After the loss of my retriever my brother gave me a little Cavalier dog, Linden of Dendy bred by Miss Beryl Sadler. He was a grandson of Ch. Clarion of Eyeworth and Ch. Abelard of Ttiweh.
I showed him for the first time on 28th May 1968, won my class and the Charnell Cavaliers were founded! I still have the prize card from that show!!
I have bred CC and Res.CC winners in the UK and several Champions in the USA, Australia and Europe. In 1985 I bought a ruby King Charles Spaniel bitch. From her daughter I bred a lovely ruby boy Charnell Alfred at Gayhalo, who was campaigned by David and gained his title in 1996.
I started my judging career at Coulsdon C.C. Open Show in 1978 and awarded CC's for the first time at the Eastern Cavalier Club 1989 where I gave Ch. Toraylac No Trouble his first CC. I have judged in Eire, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Holland, Slovakia, Australia, New Zealand and several times in the USA. I am the Chairman of the West of England Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club where I have also served as a committee member for 20 years. I was previously on the committee of the Southern Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club for 12 years.

My late wife and I had our first show cavalier Harrowood Halloween Crystal in 1982. She went on to become a champion, gaining her third CC from the Veteran class at the age of eight! In 1992 we bought our first King Charles Spaniel, a ruby dog, Charnell Alfred at Gayhalo who gained his title in 1996. By this time we had also added Japanese Chins to our small kennel of dogs and made up our first home-bred champion in this breed, Ch. Gayhalo Candy Pops, in 2004.
I started judging at Open Shows in 1986 and was passed to award CC's in Cavaliers in 1999. I have also judged in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
I served on Banbury and District C.A. committee as Show Manager for six years and am currently the secretary of the Three Counties Pekingese and Cavalier Society and on the committee of the South and West Wales Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club.
I have done the show results for cavaliers.co.uk for 10 years.
I bred my first Cavalier litter for thirteen years under my own Gayhalo affix in 2010, after my wife Sandra transferred Charnell Frolic into my name. We live in a converted barn in Ross-on Wye with seven cavaliers, five Japanese Chins and 5 King Charles Spaniels.
